Shambhavi sengupta -UI/UX DESIGNER
PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY
I am a UX/UI Designer and I graduated in May '22 with a Bachelor's degree in Digital Media from NYU. Since then, I have been a part of several pro-bono projects and client work, such as working as a UI Designer at Hack for LA, working with Sofvie with a client of theirs, and a few freelance projects. I have also completed several online courses relating to the field of UX (Psychology, Statistics, UX Professional Certificates) and have completed the Springboard UX/UI Design Bootcamp. Right now, I am on track to complete UC Berkeley's UX/UI Design Bootcamp, and I am speaking to prospective tech startups about taking more UX/UI work in the future.
CORE SKILLS & STRENGTH
First and foremost, I am a real hardworker and an empathetic team player. I have great attention to detail, as required by the field, but I can spend hours trying to smooth out the details of a project because I am somewhat of a perfectionist. I am well-versed in all the steps in the UX/UI path because of the multiple project work I have completed in my bootcamps, but I am especially strong with wireframing, rapid prototyping, and interaction design.
PROBLEM-SOLVING APPROACH
I always make sure to understand the problem fully before trying to solve it. I enjoy sketching out solutions, or putting them in a mindmap, so that there is some sort of visual mapping to the problem and its solutions. I tend to weigh the pros and cons of each solution I am considering before picking a solution. I also prefer to ask a colleague or a superior for their opinions before finalising a solution.
MOTIVATION & INSPIRATION
The prospect of job satisfaction and the joy I get in solving real-world problems that might be irritating a particular user group is what motivates me to keep going. I also get a lot of inspiration from my parents and close group of friends, and their confidence in me is one of my primary driving forces.
PROJECTION
In the next 5 years, I'm committed to advancing my career as a UI/UX Designer and contributing to the field in meaningful ways. I aspire to progress into leadership roles to solve real-world problems, whether it's as a Lead Designer or Lead UX Researcher. I want to mentor and inspire other designers, create a collaborative design culture, and lead design teams in creating exceptional digital products. I also look forward to opportunities to push the boundaries of design and introduce innovative solutions. In the future, I hope to work in environments that encourage creative thinking and experimentation.
