Why do you believe in diversity?

As the adoptive mother of an autistic ADHDer son, the wife of a neurodiverse husband and a working woman whose career so far spans three decades, I have a passion for diversity and inclusion that comes from the lived experience of being ‘othered’. Although my stories and views are based on gender and neurodivergence, I believe that all differences are to be embraced. It’s because I believe that it’s important to NOT speak for others but to authentically speak from your own place in the system that these areas are my golden thread through my work and life more broadly. I believe that if one minority group creates greater inclusion then the positive impact on the world will be felt by all. My biggest wish is that together we can begin a ripple effect that will be felt through the generations, felt through our communities, our organisations, our families and our school systems, reaching beyond the cognitive and striving to be brave and sit with the discomfort, inevitably getting things wrong but always working towards learning, growing and connecting.
